Her Majesty- The Beatles (Guitar Cover)
From my full Abbey Road Medley cover:
ua-cam.com/video/Cv65Ya4QSKU/v-deo.html
Her Majesty was originally meant to be within the Abbey Road medley, right after Mean Mr. Mustard and before Polythene Pam. But it did not fit in a pleasing way, so they decided to remove the song from Abbey Road entirely
Tape operator John Kurlander was instructed to remove Her Majesty from the album, but policy at EMI stated that they should never destroy any recordings by the group. So he decided to place the short song at the very end of the album, after a long gap so that it would be understood that the song was separate from the rest of the album
When McCartney listened to the album mix, he loved the surprise effect after The End. And thus Her Majesty became one of the first examples of a hidden (or unlisted) song on an album. Another example of a happy accident in the Beatles studio world!
Because Mean Mr. Mustard and Polythene Pam became linked in the final medley, there was a final chord that was cut between the two. This ended up in front of Her Majesty
Additionally, the original medley sequencing had the final acoustic chord of Her Majesty cut out so that Polythene Pam would start on that chord. That's why on the final released Abbey Road, Her Majesty is cut before the final chord could ring out
For my cover, I included the Mean Mr. Mustard crash chord before Her Majesty. But I kept the final acoustic Her Majesty chord in so that you could hear how Paul finished the song
Paul recorded Her Majesty on July 2nd 1969, alone on his Martin D-28 acoustic guitar
Mean Mr. Mustard had John on his Epiphone Casino and George on his Fender Rosewood Telecaster. John was plugged into a Leslie speaker cabinet and George plugged into a Fender Twin Reverb amp

Check out my full Abbey Road Medley guitar cover! ua-cam.com/video/Cv65Ya4QSKU/v-deo.html The End is an epic song for many reasons. It includes one of Ringo's rare drum solos. It's the only song ever to feature John, Paul and George all taking guitar solos. And it is a fitting farewell to the greatest band of all time- "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make" John, Paul...

Julia- The Beatles (Guitar Cover)
Переглядів 12 тис.Місяць тому
Julia is a song John wrote about his late mother, who was hit by a car when he was 17. The track closes side one of the White Album, and features just John on acoustic guitar. He employs the travis-picking technique he learned from Donovan in India Go to 0:35 to skip past my 'which guitar was used' theory John recorded it on October 13, 1968, four days after his 28th birthday. In the beginning ...
Old Brown Shoe- The Beatles (Guitar Cover)

Old Brown Shoe was the b-side to The Ballad Of John and Yoko, released in the spring of 1969. It was recorded during the early Abbey Road sessions at EMI studios. There is some controversy and speculation as to who played what on it The common personnel for a long time was Ringo on drums, Paul on piano, and George on bass/guitar. But in 2019, Giles Martin released the Abbey Road box set and lis...

The Hidden Guitars on I Want You (She's So Heavy) Outro

I include a sample from Ringo's isolated drum track, which is how I discovered the hidden extra guitars during the outro These two guitars (Lennon's Casino and Harrison's Les Paul) are the backing track guitars that were recorded live with the bass and drums. They are heard throughout the released version, until the last 'she's so...' After that John and George overdubbed many guitars for the o...

You needed a lot of reverb.
A LOT
Definitely the second one
Why is it so quiet?
I mixed it too quiet :(
Well obviously that's the reason. it's like asking "why didn't you practice?" and you say "cuz it didn't practice", stupid answer if you ask me. Just kidding Sam I love your videos.❤😂@@sampopkin
@@sampopkinI don't know if you can see it but after the 'keep reading' I say I'm joking and I absolutely love your channel ❣️
No offense taken 😁 But you touch on a good point, which is that I have trouble matching output/volume of my videos
@@sampopkin well, I am no sounds-man myself but if I were you I would have adjusted it to too high then too low to grab attention.
hi, can you explain why is it easier to play slide guitar in standard tuning? i need some music theory lesson ahaha
I’m making a how to play slide like George tutorial 👍
@@sampopkin great, thanks
Good job Sam!
A thing of beauty!
👌🏽
❤❤🎶🎵
練習が足りない……人前でやらないように……

nice job
Please do living in the material world by George, the solo is killer
A tutorial on how to play this one would be great Sam, the acoustic has some really nice macca-isms.
Just can't see John coming up with this
He didn’t. Paul and George on lead
Currently listening with quite possibly one of the worst headaches I've had in my life. Almost healing in a way.
Love that guitar solo, great work!!
My fave Harrison solo song! You crushed it!
wonderful work put into this one. Sam you’re the man!
Hey Sam.There should be a poll on my channel as I am indecisive of what kind of gear I should get. Would you help me out? O and how can I forget great cover as always
Sure!
@@sampopkin thanks!
Short but beautiful song
I’d love to see you do more videos with you singing. Amazing job Sam! Edit: just saw your video of your original song “I Get Tired”, and it’s amazing.
Thanks!
@@sampopkin no problem
HS Anderson..?
Sunshine of your love ❤
What guitar is that? 😮 I’ve been wanting to buy a classical one but not sure what model/brand would be best for me
It’s an Admira Irene. Spanish made, cheap classical It’s ok
@@sampopkin thanks, Sam! You are the best (: 🙏🏻
音がさみしい……
Даже в таком коротком треке удалось передать замысел композитора : Весёлость, с некоторой долей иронии ... Отличная работа !
Even the tone is spot on.
Sam in the video for revolution, they aren't using capos(yes I know only the vocals were live) so do you think for the video they didn't care about getting the guitars to sound just like the album or ?? See if you can tell how they are playing it in the video
It’s something I think about a lot. Because I’m 99% sure they recorded the song in B with capos on 2 But for the music video they don’t have capos. But could be because they played in A with capos on for studio, but decided to just play A for music video without capos. Maybe because they didn’t have them lying around or it looks weird for video?
great cover again, sam! something about this song and songs like i will, blackbird, and some others make me feel some type of way i just cant describe 😂
What video editor do you use?
iMovie
Congrats!!!
so good!
Sounds great!
If you have time, I’d really love to see you cover “Soily” from the One Hand Clapping sessions!
You should’ve used my D28 for this 😂
Thanks, Sam. It's a great little "ditty". Lots of fun watching you play it!
Just Watched A Hards Day Night & Just Think How There Music Changed In A Period Of 5 Years
Bravo 🙌🏻
Great stuff Sam always a pleasure to wake up to a pro playing the world's best band music ever. Thanks Sam
YOUR COVER SUCK
It's The End Of The Beatles And John, Paul, Ringo, George bacame solo musician Wings?
Sounds perfect! What was the thought behind including the last strum on the D?
Not sure I just thought it felt more complete
Actually there are recordings of Paul McCartney performing Her Majesty ending with a “D” chord. On the original release of Abbey Road, it was edited out.
@@sampopkinIt’s definitely more complete, but it would have been funnier cut off… Regardless, great job as always!
My grandmother loved Her Majesty. This goes out to her.
Perfect, as always
Love it! I noticed you didn’t put this in the middle of the “Long One”.
Yeah I decided to keep it more true to the album
@@sampopkinI’m glad you did, I listened to the long one with her majesty on it and man Her Majesty does not belong there whatsoever 💀
Great as always Sam! I love ur covers
I believe that electric guitar work was that of the late great Hugh McCracken.
Is that actually a Framus Hootenanny
No it’s a 1967 Gibson 12-string
The Beatles were musical Genius's😏👍🇬🇧
